Asia Cup : Sachin quits and Yuvraj axed
The Indian team will be going to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup without master batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh.
Sachin had requested the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to allow him to skip the tournament and the Board has accepted his proposal.
Yuvraj, on the other hand, has been struggling with his form and fitness. The southpaw has had a prolonged off-colour season.
The national selection committee meets on Monday to pick a 15-member squad for the tournament that features India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and hosts Sri Lanka.
The selectors are under pressure after picking a virtually second string team for the tour of Zimbabwe that failed to make it to the finals of the tri-series after losing both their matches to Zimbabwe.
Flamboyant opener Virender Sehwag, who missed the ICC World Twenty20 due to injury, is reportedly fully recovered and the selectors will take a call after receiving a fitness report.
However, there are reports of Rahul Dravid making a comeback in the ODI squad.
